The Value of Susho
The origins of Susho (刺绣 Ci Xiu) began with the aristocracy of China. Until the end of Imperial China, Susho was unavailable to most Chinese. Today, Susho is still favored by the elites of China, and by all lovers of beautiful artwork. Prices in China reflect Susho’s status and popularity, and the finest works hang in high-end galleries.
Susho’s popularity is due not just to its beauty; the craftsmanship of the completely handmade works is just as valued. Susho Grand Master Artists are extremely skilled, and the most talented ones are famous in China. Formal training for Susho artists begins when the artist is a teenager and culminates with a title of Master Artist after 10 to 15 years of stitching. For Grand Master Artists, at least fifteen years of experience and a formal test of skill and talent that few pass. Grand Master Artists generally spend a few to several months completing each work.

The true value of Susho comes from the works themselves. The refined designs of the patterns, the masterful stitching and the inherent beauty of pure silk create unique works of art. The technique of skilled Susho artists creates astonishing effects. The wildlife created by our artists have fur and feathers that look and feel soft, with a silken sheen beautifully replicating the natural shine of the birds and animals. The eyes of our subjects follow you as you move and look at the Susho from different angles, a skill that few artists of any medium can master. The depth and resolution of our landscapes is almost photo realistic, amazing for freehand stitching from a photo and rough outline.
Susho is completely handmade, every work is inherently unique. Even when working from the same design, silk artists will put their own human touch into each work. There will be very slight variations in color, as each artist interprets tone as the image emerges. Every work of Susho is hand-stitched, no two pieces will have identical stitching, even if the same artist created both pieces. As with musicians playing a familiar composition in concert, there will always be slight variations from any other performance, bringing each individual work its own special value.
King Silk Art’s mission is to make Susho as famous in the rest of the world as it is in China. Prices of Susho in China depend on the fame of the artist who created the artwork. We recognize Susho artists are not yet well known outside of China. King Silk Art’s current prices reflect this while we are building the 21st Century Silk Road. As the world discovers our treasured legacy and the value of our artists’ work, future prices will bring even more value to the Susho of our current collectors.

In response to your inquiry concerning our satisfaction with our King Silk Art purchase, first, we love the art work. We selected the design while attending the Philadelphia Flower Show. The beautiful work was a gift for my wife on our wedding anniversary. She loved the artwork and; the design is the one she admired at the show, We could not be more pleased.
There was a delay on the delivery and when I phoned and talked with George Xu I was instantly put at ease. George let me know that he had the necessary information and that he would see that the delivery would be rescheduled. Next, George offered us a bonus art work at no cost as a goodwill gesture. The offer of a free item was unnecessary; George's work to assist us more than satisfied our concerns. However, after viewing the King Silk Art website; we could not refuse George's offer to pick out a scene of birds similar to those in our garden. So, now we have two silk art works that we love.
Thank you King Silk Art for the terrific work you are making available.
Regards,
David Richards

We just finished installing our new fireplace, my wife and I knew we needed something special on the wall above the fireplace. We were at the New York State Fair and seen this amazing picture, did not buy it, but knew in the back of our heads we should have. Several weeks later we were at the New England States Exposition (The Big E) and seen the same people with the same picture. We wasted no time, bought the picture without wasting another minute. We purchased this picture before we even started the project knowing "this is the one". As you can see how nice it works with the stone and the overall flavor of the room. It is the show piece of our house. Thanks again, |

Since we live in TX, we won't be able to attend the grand opening of your showroom. I am sorry that I didn't reply sooner, but my email was down. I did want to thank you for the lovely silk artwork that you sent us. It is, naturally, beautiful. We were so surprised and impressed. We also got the letter of authenticity for the picture we had bought at the State Fair of Texas last year. We have mounted a light above the picture and have it hung in our entry hall. Everyone enjoys it and admires it. Thanks so much for thinking of us. Love, |

Thank you for sending the photos from your opening! We did indeed enjoy it very much and ALWAYS enjoy seeing your lovely silk art. You always manage to have the most beautiful and unique pieces and we love to wander around and look at them. As you know, we have many pieces which we love! I do believe my favorites are the Girl Playing the Lute, AND the Emperor's Robe! Both pieces are simply spectacular and incredibly detailed. The Emperor's Robe is just extraordinary and simply indescribable!!! Suffice it to say, we just NEVER tire of looking at it. It is hung in a place where it is seen very well by anyone entering our home. We get many, many comments on its splendor! Thank you for inviting us to share in your celebration of your new location. Happy Holidays to you and your families! Vicki & Robert Miner |
